Every farm starts on Free. Move to Pro or Business from Settings → Billing whenever you want Steward — your first month on a paid plan is free, and your card isn’t charged until it ends.
What it costs to take payments
Your buyers pay you through your own Stripe account. Because PlotsFarm is the merchant of record on those charges, Stripe bills its processing cost to us, so the fee deducted from each buyer charge has two parts: Stripe’s cost passed through at cost, plus our platform fee.

Stripe’s published rate for standard US card payments is currently 2.9% + $0.30; the exact figure depends on the payment method your buyer uses, and PlotsFarm doesn’t mark it up. Only the platform-fee column is our revenue. The full fee terms are in the Terms of service (§6), and Stripe publishes its own rates.
Questions growers ask
- Is the free tier a trial?
- No. Free is a plan, not a countdown. Every farm starts there, stays there until you choose otherwise, and never needs a card to keep going.
- What is the free first month?
- The first month of your farm’s first paid plan is free. Your card goes on file at checkout and isn’t charged until the free month ends. Cancel before then and you aren’t charged at all.
- Can I change plans later?
- Any time, from Settings → Billing. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle. Mid-cycle cancellations aren’t pro-rated, but you keep the paid features through the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- What happens if a payment fails?
- We retry on Stripe’s standard schedule and email the account owner. If it still can’t be collected after fourteen days, your farm drops to Free rather than getting locked out — your plan, beds, harvests, and customers all stay put.
